As a part of preparation for the EUG 2020 that will be organized next year in Belgrade, capital of Serbia was the host of the EUSA Convention organized between May 30 – June 1.
Belgrade was the host of EUSA Technical Delegates, for each sport that will next year be a part of EUG 2020, members of the EUG 2020 OC, National Technical Delegates and members of EUSA. Goal of the convention was for everyone to meet and be ready for the challenges that awaits them in the time to come.
Mr. Predrag Jušković, director of EUG 2020, University Sports Association of Serbia, Mr Dejan Madić and the EUSA Technical Commission president, Mr. Joerg Foerster, welcomed gathered guests.
Mr. Besim Aliti, European University Sports Association Sports Manager introduced the schedule for the first day of the convention following EUG 2020 Accommodation and Catering Manager, Mr. Sandro Romanić introduced the EUG 2020 OC members.
Following Mr. Romanić, Besim Aliti returned to the stage, presented all aspects of the organization according to EUSA standards, and invited Mr. Liam Smith to present the Result Management and Live Stream Systems.
After the break EUSA Sports Assistant Ms. Lea Medvešek held a presentation regarding Registration and Accreditation systems and all specific aspects of it. After Ms. Medvešek, Ms. Ana Todorić, EUG 2020 Sports Director presented the sports program and steps that were made in the sports sector so far. EUG 2020 Venues Manager Mr. Akim Komnenić joined Ana and added the list of all venues that OC suggests for each sport.
Honorable guest of Belgrade was Mr. Neil Carney Commonwealth Games Project Director talked about positive work culture in the OC while EUSA Technical Commission president Mr. Joerg Forester pointed out the significance of open communication of all sides related to the project.
First day of the EUG 2020 Convention was concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Liam Smith, along with Mr. Neil Carney, Mr. Joerg Foerster, Mr. Besim Aliti and Ms. Ana Todorić. They all addressed relevant event management topics, volunteer management and engaging local community in the project.
Following day was reserved for visiting the venues where students will compete next year at the fifth edition of European Universities Games in Belgrade.
