EUG 2020 Delegation recently visited Zagreb where they had the chance to see live European Universities Beach Handball Championship. This competition was extremely important for the local organizing committee of the fifth European Universities Games because of a simple reason, the debut of Beach Handball at the European Universities Games in Belgrade that will be organized from July 12-25 2020.
Besides Mr. Akim Komnenić (Accommodation), Ms. Mina Smiljanić (Volunteers), Ms. Tatjana Matijević (Academic sector) and Ms. Zorica Čampazević (Sports) championship in Zagreb was also visited by Mr. Marko Pavlović and Mr. Dragan Makarić, representatives of Handball Association of Belgrade, in charge of Beach Handball tournament at the fifth European Universities Games.
– We had a chance to visit the General Technical Meeting, visit all the venues and held several meetings with the European Universities Beach Handball Championship organizers – started Mr. Akim Komnenić from Accommodation department and added:
– Our hosts welcomed us great and they selflessly shared all information they had and experience from organizing this competition. It will help us a lot in the preparation of the fifth European Universities Games because Beach Handball will be present for the first time at the EUG, and because we are about to build a completely new venue for this sport.
Visit to Zagreb was valuable for one more fact:
– Last day of our stay in Croatia, Mr. Dragutin Makarić, member of Handball Association of Belgrade, who was part of our delegation was present at the meeting that European University Sports Association had with the EHF Beach Handball Commission. On that meeting they discussed the future cooperation and support of EHF to the organizers of the forthcoming fifth European Universities Games – said Mr. Komnenić and added:
– Whole tournament was organized great and it was very successful for our athletes because both University of Belgrade and University of Novi Sad won medals. We had the chance to cheer them and once again I would like to congratulate on their success – concluded Akim Komnenić.
