Very exciting day is behind us as six European Universities Championships came to an end. What was more important is that all six sports that ended will be the part of the fifth European Universities Games in Belgrade next year, and even more important is that athletes from Serbia participated at two of them and won first two medals this summer. Today we will write about the championships where Serbian athletes participated, and tomorrow you will read a bit more from other four events.

Interesting information is that athletes from Belgrade and Novi Sad were at the competitions that had their premiere in the European University Sports Association program this year – Orienteering and Beach Handball.

Guys that went to Olomouc, Czech Republic, were not fast and cunning enough to find their way to the podium. Sava Lazić and Strahinja Strelić, both from the University of Belgrade, participated in Sprint and Middle distance. Unfortunately, Sava Lazić, who was better than his colleague in both races, couldn´t make it to top 50. He took 56th position at Sprint and 59th at Middle distance, while his colleague was 70th and 72nd.

Good news for all university sports lovers in Serbia is that beach handball players from Novi Sad and Belgrade return home with two medals, both of them silver. Guys came back after two consecutive loses in the group, played great until the final match when they lost against home team from Zagreb. Girls, from the Serbian Athens, Novi Sad, showed in the group stage that they aim for one of the medals, as they were the only team without a defeat. Unfortunately for them, girls from Barcelona won after the penalty shootout and took the gold.

It is up to the boys that were at the Orienteering competition to improve until the fifth European Universities Games and to the beach handball player to open the venue for the Beach Handball with an even better result and to win the gold.
