First time, representatives of European University sport and European Universities Games 2020 Organization committee had the opportunity to hear experiences and advices from the previous EUG organizers. Rijeka and Zagreb were hosts in 2016, and Portugues city of Coimbra in 2018.
The fact that Belgrade is organizing European Universities Games next year, this meeting is considered as a “knowledge transfer”. Five members of Organization committee from Zagreb and Rijeka and two from Coimbra selflessly pointed out the benefits of good organization and mentioned some of the challenges they were facing on the way. That is, as they said, cornerstone for good preparation of the European Universities Games in 2020.
Before the meeting, EUSA Secretary General Mr. Matjaž Pečovnik and the director of European Universities Games 2020 Mr. Predrag Jušković welcomed the attendants. Meeting was moderated by EUSA Sports Director, Mr. Besim Aliti.
Presentation of the previous two events structure brought different opinions. There were a lot of questions about each aspect of the EUG organization. Answers were given by Mr. Marko Žunić, EUG 2016 coordinator and Mr. Mario Santos, Secretary general at EUG 2018, Ms. Filipa Godinho spoke in front of the EUG 2018 OC, while Mr. Nikola Vincetić told the impressions from Zagreb and Rijeka and how the hosts communicated to the general public and how they brought the competition closer to the target audience.
Volunteers are the heart of every event. Ms. Ivana Aničić talked about their work in 2016. She presented the plans for animating the volunteers and organizing them. Ms. Jelena Matešić present the way of communicating with foreign delegations during the EUG 2016 preparation.
Mr. Matjaž Pečovnik and Mr. Besim Aliti summed up the meeting together. They wished Belgrade luck in organizing and hosting the biggest EUG edition ever held.
